It's Monday, What Are You Reading? January 6, 2014

Please visit the amazing blogs: Teach Mentor Texts and Unleashing Readers who host this terrific meme each week.

Check out last week's posts

Here is what I was able to read this week.

Picture Books-Nonfiction
by Teresa Anne Power and Kathleen Rietz
Illustrated by Brookes Nohlgren

Really liked this book of yoga poetry and poses.
Will review on Wed.

Middle Grade
by Karen Foxlee
I LOVED this book and kids will love it too.
Read my review here

by Charise Mercile Harper
Middle graders will enjoy this book.  It is a bit silly and uses the word underwear quite often. I liked the developing, unlikely friendship between Morgan and Lewis. The illustrations reminded me of Diary of a Wimpy Kid meets My Life as a Book.

Not really sure what's up next right now.

What Are You Reading Friends?

Coming up this week.....
Tues.    Slice of Life
Wed.    Nonfiction Wednesday
Thurs.  Rethinking It Thursday
Fri.       Book Blast Giveaway
Sat.      Celebrating This Week

  2. Love the idea of the yoga book, Gigi. There are always kids interested in yoga at school! And I keep hearing about Ophelia… - glad to hear you think it's good! Thanks!

  5. I just couldn't get into OPHELIA AND THE MARVELOUS BOY. I think it's one of those books that I'm going to have to wait and listen to the audio. I tend to do fantasy on audio because it's already a handicap of mine. I need an adept narrator to pull me into the story.

  6. The cover of Ophelia and the Marvelous Boy is awesome-it just makes me want to read it! But not quite yet...no 2014s yet ;) I have never heard of the Alien Encounter series, but I'm going to be checking it out for my classroom!

  11. Hello there Gigi, I agree with everyone else's comments: the book cover of Ophelia and the Marvelous Boy looks amazing indeed. I do yoga, so I'd most likely look for the ABC of Yoga for Kids! :) Have a great reading week!
