ABC's of Yoga for Kids

by Teresa Anne Power and Kathleen Rietz

Illustrated by Brookes Nohlgren

Really liked this book of yoga poetry and poses.

Will review on Wed.

Middle Grade

Ophelia and the Marvelous Boy

by Karen Foxlee

I LOVED this book and kids will love it too.

Alien Encounter: Sasquatch and Aliens

by Charise Mercile Harper

Middle graders will enjoy this book. It is a bit silly and uses the word underwear quite often. I liked the developing, unlikely friendship between Morgan and Lewis. The illustrations reminded me of Diary of a Wimpy Kid meets My Life as a Book.

Not really sure what's up next right now.

A wonderfully sweet story of a rope that tied together grandparents, parents and child.

The Snatchabook

Illustrated by Thomas Docherty

A fun little book about a creature that keeps stealing other animals' books.

Mr. Wuffles

by Davis Wiesner

I am fast becoming a fan of David Wiesner. This is a wordless picture book. After reading it, you may never look under a piece of furniture the same way again.

The Beginner's Guide to Running Away from Home

by Jennifer Larue Huget

Kids will like this story about how to run away from home, but I could not get past the creepy illustrations.

Criss Cross

by Lynne Rae Perkins

This was not a favorite Newbery book. Although the writing is beautiful, it was actually kind of dull.

Journey

by Aaron Becker

This has to be one of the BEST picture books of the year. It is a wordless journey of a young girl who is bored because everyone is too busy to spend time with her. She uses her "magic" marker to draw a door to another world that starts her amazing journey. The illustrations are simply gorgeous.

Unicorn Thinks He's Pretty Great

by Bob Shea

Things are going just fine for Goat until Unicorn arrives. Unicorn can fly, has a cool horn and can make it rain cupcakes. Soon Goat realizes that he can do things that Unicorn can't and the two become friends.

Brief Thief

by Michael Escoffier

Kids will think this book is just HILARIOUS! Lots of "potty humor". It was not my kind of funny, but I can see my class rolling on the floor laughing at this book.
