Picture Books

by Jacqueline Woodson
A wonderfully sweet story of a rope that tied together grandparents, parents and child.

by Helen Docherty
Illustrated by Thomas Docherty
A fun little book about a creature that keeps stealing other animals' books.

by Davis Wiesner
I am fast becoming a fan of David Wiesner.  This is a wordless picture book.  After reading it, you may never look under a piece of furniture the same way again.

by Jennifer Larue Huget
Kids will like this story about how to run away from home, but I could not get past the creepy illustrations.

YA
by Lynne Rae Perkins
This was not a favorite Newbery book.  Although the writing is beautiful, it was actually kind of dull.

Lovin' it so far!

by Donald Graves
I heard a lot about this book at NCTE and was thrilled to find that I actually had it at home.

Thank you to those who have checked out my daughter's brand new blog.  She has very recently started to be interested in reading. Here is the link if you'd care to visit. Molly's Crazy About Books

  1. I keep seeing The Snatchabook in people's Monday posts, and you know what that means: I'm itching to order it!! The Energy to Teach is one I enjoy dipping into here and there a few times a year. Looking forward to reading your thoughts. I have tried to read Criss Cross 2-3 times and abandoned each time due to boredom, but eventually I'm going to have to push on through if I'm going to complete my Newbery Challenge. I was so close to getting a copy of This Is the Rope but didn't quite make it. I'm sure I'll buy it because I love Jacqueline Woodson's books. That cover is beautiful! Glad I got to meet you at NCTE!

    1. I was so excited to meet you as well Elisabeth! I have heard many people say that Criss Cross just didn't do it for them. I was lucky to meet J. Woodson at NCTE, such a treat. Enjoy your week!

  2. Just discovered the Jacqueline Woodson book earlier today, Gigi. It does look good. I also need to get Mr. Wuffles-should have at NCTE! I just checked out Molly's blog-very fun. I told her I could see if she'd like to connect to some students at my school (middle schoolers of course). thanks!

  3. The book about running away sounds charming. I bought the Graves book at NCTE - it looks wonderful, as do all things Don Graves.
