Many students are hesitant to revise their own writing. Last week, after revising fiction stories for several periods, we focused on adding adjectives.
In order to motivate them, the students were allowed to write their adjectives on our whiteboard (they had to write three for every trip to the board).
It really helped add a bit of fun to revising. They also were able to see the interesting words their classmates added. They really enjoyed this activity. Ok, so some of their words were actually adverbs, but let's not get too picky.
