It's Monday, What Are You Reading?-November 3, 2014

Picture Books
by Mike Curato
I had been anxiously awaiting this picture book. It is as good as I had hoped. Great book about friendship and finding ones place in the world. Grades K-3.

by Marla Frazee
This wordless picture book is a new favorite! Frazee's signature illustrations and a unique story line make this appropriate for all elementary grades.

If you visit regularly you know I have been working on the next one for a while, but I am really enjoying it nonetheless.

What Are YOU Reading Friends?

  1. We loved The Farmer and the Clown too. Definitely a book with an important message. What did you think of the ending? We laughed so hard at the twist at the end.

We can't wait to hear your thoughts about No More Independent Reading Without Support. We have read a few of the books in that series and have found them all helpful.

  2. I read The Farmer and the Clown last week and loved it too.

I hear ya on working on one book for a while. I've been doing the same thing with Winger by Andrew Smith. I love the book, but I just have so many other reading obligations lately that I just don't have time to sit down with it.

  3. Me, too for The Farmer and The Clown-just great! And I've also loved Beholding Bee and need to get to The Night Gardener. I've heard great things about it. Thanks, Gigi!

  4. The Farmer and the Clown is also a favourite for me. I hope you are enjoying Beholding Bee. Such a beautiful book! I have this professional title as well NMIRWS and have enjoyed it.

  5. The Night Gardener has been sitting in my TBR pile, too - we do have to chip away at our lists one book at a time, right?!

  6. Those are all great great books. Elliot is always going to have a place in my heart! I'm about to reread Night Gardener for our Newbery Club! It amazed me first time around!

  7. Elliot is so cute. I haven't gotten to Night Gardener and Beholding Bee. Middle grade novels are a gap for me. I will watch for the Farmer and the Clown. I love Frazee's work.

  8. I probably need to order Elliot--it's one I really want to read and I'm beginning to despair of my library ever getting it. I did like Farmer and Clown. I love everything Frazee.

  9. Elliot and Night Gardener are both on my lists. I wanted to use Elliot in my Mock Caldecott but haven't gotten hold of it yet. Thanks for the reminder!

  10. Enjoyed The Farmer and the Clown immensely - will be doing a review of The NIght Gardener in the coming week - I fell in love with the novel. :)
