What Are You Reading?
I love Sara Varon's books. I can't wait to read Odd Duck.
ReplyDeleteHeart and Soul was so good! Kadir Nelson is coming to my town next week and I can't wait. I adore his work.
Wow! Lucky!! Odd Duck was my first of Varon's books. I'll have to look for more.
DeleteI also haven't read Hattie Big Sky! Just picked it up at the library and hope to get to it in the next week or two. Have heard such fantastic things. You read some beautiful picture books this week. I loved The Monster's Monster! and also had to end up owning hello! hello!
ReplyDeleteI felt like I needed to read some of the Nerdy nominees, but our libraries don't have them yet (we can be a little slow up here in Maine). So I sat at Books-A-Million for an hour. So fun!
DeleteThe sequel to Hattie Big Sky is available on netgalley.com; now I just need to read it!
ReplyDeleteYes, I am waiting for it. I requested it a while ago. I hate waiting :(
DeleteI love Hattie! The sequel HATTIER EVER AFTER is amazing, too. Creepy Carrots and Hello! Hello! are both great picture books, too, and I've heard a lot about Secret Tree! Thanks for sharing such great titles.
ReplyDeleteI have a request to read Hattie Ever After at Netgalley. It's taking a long time. Looking forward to it!
DeleteEverything on your post looks great, the way you displayed the book covers, etc. I loved it. Must find Creepy Carrots-lots of people talking about that one. I love Hello, Hello & I bought The Monster's Monster for my granddaughter who loves all things monster. I will have to read Hattie Big Sky soon. The new one will come out next month I think. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThanks Linda, I am looking forward to reading Hattie Ever After.
DeleteWordless picture books are so fascinating for me- especially when done well. Unspoke n falls into that category!
ReplyDeleteI agree and there are so many now that are great.
DeleteHi there Gigi, these are all lovely titles. I already borrowed Creepy Carrots from the library but I haven't gotten around to reading it yet. Will read all seven finalists for the Cybils fiction picture books at one go, I think. I'm finding the right mood/vibe for it. Joyful Noise is a personal favorite. I've used it several times in the book club discussions I facilitate. A year ago (2011), I had several kids read aloud and I even video-recorded them and uploaded a few of the clips on to the site. I just love that book. It's the second time I've seen Heart and Soul around, I really must check that out. I tried finding The Monster's Monster in our libraries - but horror of horros, we don't have that yet. I intend to read Hattie Big Sky within the year, hopefully. :)
ReplyDeleteI was thinking about how I could have the kids perform Joyful noise. I'll bet it was great. I need to check out the Cybils list. Our library is a bit slow with getting new titles, kinda frustrating.
