Here is what I finished last week.
A Snicker of Magic
by Natalee Lloyd
I read this book with a lunchtime book club and
LOVED it. What a unique story!
Roll of Thunder Hear my Cry
by Mildred D. Taylor
I read this book in my attempt to read the Newbery winners. I did not realize that it was the 4th in the series. It is an amazing and powerful story!
I finished listening to...
Flora and Ulysses
by Kate DiCamillo
This book was on my must-read-in-2014 list.
I enjoyed the audio version of this Newbery winner.
Currently Reading...
The Spy Catchers of Maple Hill

What Are You Reading Friends?
Love how you kept it short and sweet. I needed aim for that. Wasn't Snicker of Magic, well, magical? Sweet, charming, wonderful story.
ReplyDeleteI definitely kept it short this week. I try to leave a link to Goodreads if anyone wants more into. Yes indeed, Snicker was a fabulous book!
DeleteGood morning! I have a question for you about Roll of Thunder... What age level do you think this book could be used for? I have a low 3rd grade reading student whose mom just gave this book to for him to read independently... I have ever read it but my guess is it is too high of a level?? Thoughts?
ReplyDeleteMichele, this book is definitely for middle school both in content and readability.
DeleteGreat books, Gigi. 'Snicker' is still to be read. I feel pressure from so many! Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI really want to read The Spy Catchers of Maple Hill - I loved The Water Castle. Will be interested to see what you think. Isn't Flora & Ulysses just so wonderful . . . ?
ReplyDeleteA Snicker of Magic and Flora & Ulysses are fantastic!
ReplyDeleteI have misplaced Snicker of Magic, which I'm dying to read.... it's somewhere in this house! I need to go through all my book stacks and find it. Roll of Thunder is an impressive book, isn't it? I haven't felt like reading the rest of the series, but I did like Roll of Thunder a lot--it has stuck with me.
ReplyDeleteYay! I didn't realize Megan Frazer Blakemore had a new book coming out. Flora & Ulysses and A Snicker of Magic are both wonderful, and I agree with you about Roll of Thunder. It's a powerful book, but definitely for middle school.
ReplyDeleteHi there Gigi. I have yet to read Flora & Ulysses - it is languishing in our shelf. Hopefully before the year ends. I'm excited to read Snicker of Magic - I am sure we're bound to get a copy before year ends. I think my daughter who is a sixth grader may have read Roll of Thunder, will ask her about it. Have a great reading week! :)
ReplyDeleteWe have A Snicker of Magic on our summer reading list. Can't wait to read it.
